"100 Degrees until Halloween" Day 91 ~ Clouds and Cactus

Cactus against a totally grey sky.  Not something we often see here...and I am not complaining!

This weekend you will get a diversion from rainy sky pictures (I hope) as we head to Big Lake in Northern AZ for some camping and marshmallows and fishing (and eating fish, we hope).  Stay tuned and have a great holiday weekend!!

It's too hot to roast a chicken...the solution?  Williams Sonoma beer can chicken pan  This is the lady sitting on her can prior to getting her rub.  The results were delicious!!!  Yay to the grill.

"100 Degrees Until Halloween" Day 63 ~ Tears.

We leave Vermont today.  I was happy (for us) that the skies reflected our emotional state.  As we packed the car to leave, it started pouring rain.  (For those we were leaving behind, we knew they would be ok since a mile down the road, the skies were blue and open and sun was shining.)  We appreciated the skies' sentiment, nonetheless.   Back to the original project...and school...and work...and  90 more days until it is cool enough in Tucson to live outside again.  Stay tuned to see if I make it.

"100 Degrees Until Halloween" Day 49 ~ Storm

I grew up in New Jersey and moved to Tucson in 1996 (a mere 23 year old in the arid desert).  I have forgotten what it is like to NOT see the whole sky and what it is like to NOT be able to pinpoint where in the city it is raining.  In NJ (and Maine and everywhere I've been on the East coast) it is just gray and cloudy, or it is not.  I was trying to see if my friend in DC (who, to my knowledge, has not been to southern AZ) "got" my post from Day 40 (Rain Cliff).  Today, while driving home, I saw another chance to document this western phenom.  I could see two storms from miles and miles away...and I don't care.  I love it.  :)

"100 Degrees Until Halloween" Day 38 ~ Nanny Nanny Boo Boo...

And a big outstretched tongue.  That's what I feel the monsoons are doing to this Northeast side of Tucson.  Oh, and by the way, this is the 38th day in a row of reaching 100 degrees in Tucson.  Tomorrow, IF we hit 100 degrees it will be record breaking...stay tuned!

"100 Degrees Until Halloween" Day 34 ~ Nightly visitors

Happy 34th day of the photo project (or to the rest of you, Happy 4th of July!)

When it heats up, we start getting nightly gecko visitors on our kitchen window screen.  It started with just one and then word must have spread because now we can have up to five.  I just thought "aw, the geckos like hanging out with us."  Then I watched a bug come flying up to the screen and like that, boom, gecko got his dinner.  Ohhhhhh, so that's why they hang out on on our window screen.

"100 Degrees Until Halloween" Day 30 ~ And so it rolled.

The monsoon (clouds, at least)  rolled in last night.  It was heaven.  We got to spend time on our back porch watching the lightning show and feeling the breeze.  The start of monsoon season is what helps us all through June.  What a perfect June for my project.  Ice break on June 1st, first monsoon on June 30.  Recap to come.  Thanks for following and liking, my bloggie friends!

"100 Degrees Until Halloween" Day 29 ~ This Guy...

I want to be this guy...napping in the shade...Where I am the garden gnome in this scenario, I am imagine this is a place with air conditioning.

"100 Degrees Until Halloween" Day 28~ Red Sky At Night,

Sailor's Delight.  Red Sky at Morning; Sailors, Take Warning.   My "whole life" (i.e. before age 22 when I moved to Tucson, AZ)  I actually thought that was real advice having to do with sailing. (P.S. Sailing also feels real when you live other places than Tucson, AZ :) )   Turns out, this expression has to do with weather.

Red sky at night in Arizona means nothing but HOT and (hot) clear days ahead.  In any event, I felt SO lucky to be in Vail, AZ doing a senior shoot when this sunset occurred.

28th day of over 100 temps in Tucson.  Tomorrow's predicted high?  114 degrees.  Last time we hit 100 degrees this many days in a row in June?  Never.  Record. Breaking.  Just ask my favorite weatherman @jeffbeamish and I am sure my photo project is not to blame.  Really.
